There’s quite a few upcoming games that look fantastic. We have the new and adventurous Pokemon Legends: Arceus as well as the long-awaited The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. As 2022 approaches, we get to hear more news about what to look forward to. However, with so many good upcoming games, it’s easy to not notice some of the adorable indie games releasing as well!

Here is a list of some upcoming games that you should add to your radar!

Mineko’s Night Market

“Mineko’s Night Market is a narrative-driven, social simulation adventure game that celebrates Japanese culture while encouraging players to craft, eat, and ultimately enjoy all the cats.”

In this adorable looking upcoming game, you play as Mineko, a girl who is trying to create her new home in a struggling town at the base of Mount Fugu. The locals, who worship a Sun Cat called Abe, have recently reported seeing Abe, long thought to just be a myth, around the town. Help Mineko discover the town’s secrets while creating a successful Night Market and enjoying all the cats.

Release date: 2021; Switch, PC, and Mac.

Bear and Breakfast

Bear and Breakfast is a laid-back management adventure game where you play as a well-meaning bear trying to run a B+B in the woods. Hank and his friends find an abandoned shack and, equipped with their teenage ingenuity, turn it into a money-making bed and breakfast scheme for unsuspecting tourists. As your business expands so do the mysteries of the forest, and Hank soon finds himself uncovering a plot deeper than the wilderness itself.

This is probably one of the most creative concepts for a game I’ve heard in a long time. Bear and Breakfast allows you to create your own B&B by building rooms, decorating, providing entertainment, and then inviting guests to stay. Make them happy so that you can earn money and build up your B&B even more! The game also promises interesting characters that might provide advice or even help you with your business–if you’re willing to hear them out.

Grow: Song of the Evertree

Grow your own worlds and nurture a deep natural connection with everything they hold. See your actions change the world for better! Bring the Evertree back to life in this breathtaking world-crafting sandbox, with life management and adventure elements.

The same developers behind Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles have created Grow: Song of the Evertree, which appears to be its spiritual successor. Whereas Yonder focuses more on exploring a world, Grow goes further by allowing the player to grow their own worlds. Create a town and decorate it with cute buildings and homes for both yourself and the interesting townsfolk. Like most farming sims, you can also collect flowers, fish, catch bugs, and explore caves to help develop the town of your dreams.

Release date: November 16, 2021; PS4, XBOX One, Switch, and PC.

Stray

Stray is a third-person cat adventure game set amidst the detailed neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly. Roam surroundings high and low, defend against unforeseen threats and solve the mysteries of this unwelcoming place inhabited by nothing but unassuming droids and dangerous creatures.

Stray may be the cyberpunk game we’ve all been waiting for (but didn’t know it). You play as a cat who, with the help of a friendly flying drone named B12, wants to understand the world’s mysteries and make it back home. Solve puzzles and help the city-people, sometimes sneaking around and sometimes being as annoying as any good cat should. From what I’ve seen, Stray seems like a more dark and adventurous Untitled Goose Game.

A Shiba Story

You are a rookie dogsitter who’s been asked to care for Sunday, your uncle’s Shiba Inu. Sunday’s a cute dog, but this is no easy assignment for someone new to the world of canines: He’s stubborn, difficult, and he won’t even let you pet him! Can you learn the art of dogcare and win this persnickety pup’s friendship?

As Sunday’s dogsitter, you’ll explore the San Francisco-inspired town and scoop up poop, play fetch, and, just maybe, pet him. This adorable upcoming game features the everyday of a dogsitter, from interacting with strangers (who may have some opinions to share) to meeting other dogs! As a Shiba owner, it’s nice to see that Sunday appears to have the catty but lovable attitude of a real Shiba.
